EN ITALIE: A QUELQUES JOURS DU FESTIVAL DE LATINA

ANTEPRIMA INTERNO DEPLIANT PER LA MIA ESPOSIZIONE DI LOCANDINE E MANIFESTI IN COLLABORAZIONE CON IL CIRCUS FANS A LATINA

The International Circus Festival “City of Latina” confirms its tradition of giving a special place to one of the most representative Italian Circus families.
On the occasion of our thirteenth edition, the place of honour goes to the Vassallo family.
Rony Vassallo, son of the famous Edoardo Vassallo, who was a well-known trapeze artist of the ‘70s, represents the fourth generation of artists of the family. Even though he was showed a great love of animals from a tender age, and in particular for horses, Rony also had a strong desire to become a trapeze artist. He made his début in the ring performing a hand balance number, and four years later performed with exotic animals for the first time. His first performance in a number involving horses was at the age of 16. As so often happens with talented children born and bred in circus families, he was already becoming a versatile and eclectic performer. Today Rony Vassallo prefers to refer to himself as a “teacher” of his horses rather than as a trainer, almost conferring a status of equality between himself and his horses. The number he is presenting at Latina, which is not in the competition in line with our tradition for this type of number, sees Rony Vassallo with his seven white Arab stallions in a setting that evokes a gypsy atmosphere by its use of costumes, music and dancing. Rony Vassallo feels she should thank his uncle, Salvatore Vassallo, for passing on to him his love of horses and also for having taught him the art of teaching them with kindness. Six dancers coming from the Bolshoi Circus of Moscow will be working with Rony in the ring.

Presenter coming to Latina from the sets of Hollywood
Since 2005 Andrea Giachi has elegantly and efficiently fulfilled the role of official presenter of the International Circus Festival "City of Latina". Actress Natascha Berg will be presenting the thirteenth International Circus Festival "City of Latina" alongside Andrea Giachi, adding glamour, elegance, and an international touch to the Festival.
Natascha Berg was born in Mannheim, Germany to a Spanish mother and a German father. Her dream to become a paediatrician forced her to reconcile her studies at University with her natural artistic leanings: Natascha has studied dance, singing, five different musical instruments and seven foreign languages. At 14 years of age she began working as a model until, in 2000, she represented Germany in the Miss World contest. Taking part in that event signalled the start of a new career in television: as anchorwoman and overseas reporter for channels N24 and Pro7, Natascha covered important media events such as the Academy Awards and Michael Jackson’s funeral. Since 2009 Natascha Berg has been living in Hollywood, where she has started an acting career which is already seeing her in important parts: her most recent role was in Steven Soderbergh’s film “Haywire”, alongside Antonio Banderas. The short film “Shadows”, in which she stars, and which has already won the “Los Angeles International Latino Festival”, has qualified for nomination for the Oscars.

THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC, GIORGIO NAPOLITANO, GRANTS MEDALS OF THE REPUBLIC OF ITALY FOR THE TENTH YEAR RUNNING.
Giorgio Napolitano, President of the Republic of Italy, has once again designated two Medals in recognition of the 13th International Circus Festival “City of Latina”. The medals will be awarded to two artists as a special prize during the final evening of the Festival, on October 17th 2011. At the previous edition, these medals were awarded to the Italian performer Willer Nicolodi and to the Chinese National Acrobatic Troupe. These medals, granted by the Head of State, represent a prestigious acknowledgment of the Festival, and are a real incentive for the continuing pursuit of excellence on the part of all of the production team, in the interests of the ongoing promotion and success of the International Circus Festival “City of Latina” on the world stage.
