JE DECLARE LE FESTIVAL DE LATINA OUVERT!
Press Release n. 26 – October 14th, 2010
FABULOUS DEBUT FOR THE FIRST SHOW OF THE INTERNATIONAL CIRCUS FESTIVAL 2010, WITH AN AUDIENCE COMPOSED OF GROUPS FROM LOCAL SCHOOLS. THE SARMAT TOUPE’S HORSE NUMBER, FROM NORTH OSSETIA, WAS A GREAT SUCCESS, AS WAS GIORDANO CAVEAGNA WITH HIS TIGERS. TOMORROW THERE WILL BE ANOTHER MORNING SHOW AT 10.00, FOLLOWED BY AN EVENING SHOW AT 21.00 WITH THE “B” SHOW SELECTION. ON SATURDAY THERE WILL BE A PRESS CONFERENCE AT 12.30pm REGARDING THE PRESENCE OF ANIMALS IN THE CIRCUS.
The curtain is officially up on the 12th International Circus Festival "City of Latina" with a matinée show for local school groups from Maenza, Roccgorga, Priverno, Prossedi, Latina Scalo, Pomntinia, Cori, Ceriara de Sezze and Aprilia, and an evening show for the general public. Amongst the numbers that were enjoyed by the schoolchildren was the Troupe Sarmat (from North Ossetia, an autonomous Republic of the Russian Federation), who performed in a Cossack-inspired number that displayed the love of horses of the peoples who live in this region. The Troupe was created by Oleg Tandelov, and is composed of 8 performers, all from his own family. Their number was further enriched by the presence of six ballerinas from the Bolshoi State Circus of Moscow.
Another important number was presented by Italian animal trainer Giordano Caveagna, who performed with his eight magnificent tigers. A very particular number that Caveagna plays out with his tigers, using love and kindness to direct them, and using no other type of coercion or prompts such as whips or sticks.
Huge anticipation also for tomorrow's shows at 10.00 and 21.00 respectively, to include more fascinating numbers, such as the Aerial Silks of the Duo Viro (from Hungary), who will be performing to the sound of the voice of Simone di Giulio, from Latina. Also performing, the Pyongyang Troupe (from North Korea), in their first ever European performance, with a combined Russian Swing and Fixed Trapeze number that sees the performers fly twenty metres through the air at a height of thirteen metes from the circus ring.
At 12.30pm on Saturday there will be a Press Conference to announce the conclusions of the European Circus Association and the Fédération Mondiale du Cirque's meeting, which will be about the important theme: "legislation regarding the keeping of exotic and dangerous animals in circuses; harmonization of European laws with the laws of Sovereign States regarding the keeping and care of circus animals and of the training of their keepers".
