Photos by Elena Frolova-Trufanova www.circusbackstage.com The international project «Circus. Backstage» was started in the beginning of 2005. Since then the author has visited more than 20 circuses of Russia and countries of the former Soviet Union. The geography of activity included circuses of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tver’, Tula, Penza, Yaroslavl, Rostov-on-Don, Kazan, Krasnodar, Voronezh, Kiev, Dnepro petrovsk, Simferopol, Krivoy Rog, Erevan and others. The aim of the project is to discover the condition of the contemporary circus through showing the secret backstage world and its inhabitants. The project archive makes more than 15 000 photos.
